MGS4 used up an entire dual sided blu-ray because Kojima-san wanted a perfect untainted experience. They still has to compress a few things tho, against his wishes, just for it to fit on one disk. =/

Also this isn't a rumor lol. Square-Enix isn't forced to release Final Fantasy games on the PlayStation, that's just silly. They just chose to release the main ones on there lately because thats where they were getting bigger sales. The Chronicles series is on Nintendo consoles along with the handheld ones mostly hitting Nintendo handhelds, so...~

I am going to quote a few things people might be interested from here

I am hoping this is true, but he seems to know what he wants, and if so it means as they say, quality wont be affected and there will be more compression for the 360 than PS3. That part is the only reason we might see a slight difference (assuming that the PS3s version doesn't get compressed as much as the 360 version)

I quoted this because I am generally happy about this, I HATED FF12s battle system, and I LOVE THE ATB system

As far as the game’s music goes, we were told that the music will be recorded once all the cinematics are completed, and that the sound would have a lot of choral influence.
Reading this, my guess is most or all of the visuals are done and that they are working on voice, music, sound effects, etc (just an assumption based on what I am reading)

^ I'm the opposite to you. I like 12's battle system and no random encounter. I don't mind turn base but for me it's just really old and triedsome, these days and age. Although if done right like Kotor series, turn base can be pretty fun.

That Kojima-san guy sounded like a pain. Sound like he didn't want to compress anything so he can go on about his game used all of the blueray disc. Great game though, highly recommend.

well according to the GS article, no random encounters so thats good,

although I do prefer the Tales of battle system (I forget what its called), if you haven't seen it, you should check up on some of the tales games, tales of Symphonia for instance doesn't have any random encounters, (from what I remember anyway) and no turn based battles.

lol.

Hideo Kojima-san, is not a pain. He wanted the ultimate visionary experience, and he did not want the quality of his game tainted (even just a little bit) by compression. Blu-ray just so happens to be the only thing that could fit his game at the same.

Also iirc, FF13 is using a modified version of the ATB system from screens taken from the battle system trailers a year ago. You gain like AP that you can spend, and if you have enough AP you can keep taking turns.

Something like that.

Ok, the way I see it is:
If you want games with stunning/beautiful graphics, get a PS3.
If you want games that are awesomely FUN, get a Wii.
Or if you want games that look decent and are entertaining, get a 360. That's how I feel about it.

ya because the Wii or 360 don't have games that have beautiful graphics.
And the PS3 and 360 don't have fun games.
And the PS3 and Wii don't have decent and entertaining games.

no.

Fail!

They all have pros and cons, and a variety of games.

If you have a semi decent PC, there is so reason to own a 360. That was my point. It really has like 1-2 exclusive games you can't get on the PC as well.

The PS3 exclusives will never be available on PC, thus, it is worth getting a PS3 to play those. (Drake's Fortune, Resistance 1 and 2, Little Big Planet, MGS4, etc)

Also, as far as overall use goes, the PS3 has mouse and keyboard support, which is great for UT3. I still prefer UT3 on PC, but you get the idea. The 360 version has not sold well due to its late release and because no mouse/keyboard support. If you are a true shooter fan, you know that mouse and keyboard is the ONLY WAY to play a shooter.

Bingo. Again though, the 360 exclusives typically are also on PC because it is Microsoft. Sony doesn't do that. Thus, by that math, it would be a better investment to own a PS3 provided your PC was half decent. However, if you don't have a decent PC, get a 360 AND a PS3, best of both worlds. Still, a 360 is 299. A decent PC will run you around 600 these days, and can do a lot more. So.... I dunno, save more for the PC in my opinion.

imo they all fail because PC has Planescape: Torment and Anachronox. :P

If I had to get one I'd get a PS3 tho. I can't name one good exclusive the 360 has that the PC doesn't atm, except for Halo 3, and you know they're gonna release that for Vista soon enough anyways.

Console people piss me off like I said tho. It's like the Mac vs PC people, except 3 times as bad. ;-;

lol. Just get all of them, like me. Only then you can rise above the Tribal War. I'm not a big gammer or anything, big spender more like. I have like 4 games for the 360 and 2 for the PS3 lol. I also gave away the Wii to my girlfriend. I have both Mac and PC as well.

Exclusive means Jack's poop to me. I got the 360 back in January to play...Ace Combat 6, fun game but a bit short though.

See folks, money may not be able to buy you love but it sure can buy you lot of neat stuff.

Lol not in my school... I can't go a meter without seeing a Mac is better then PC battle occuring... Its what happens when you go to an engineering school named "High Tech". But i digress...

I still feel that the argument about how graphics are better means console is better is a bad argument because I would rather have a crappy visual game, but with good gaming and storyline... I definately would say that the PS3 is a great deal for people who like watching DVDs, since it has a blue ray player and is one of the cheapest (i believe) one on the market. (But then again if you really want to have a "good blue ray player", why not go to a store and buy a blue ray player separately if you are hardcore about visuals)

I wouldn't agree to buy both either, as i stated before, buy one since great games come out for both... The only argument then is the graphics, which in that case is above already. Then the XBOX vs PC debate is all up to personal preference. On that topic, i have to disagree with Rahja, a hardcore shooter game type person would probably rather have a console with a gun attachment or joystick for flying shooters (there is nothing that will ever compare to that kind of feeling hold a gun and blasting it up in an arcade).

Both XBOX 360 and PS3 have great qualities about. I myself want to buy a Ps3, But ill have to wait till it significantly drops in value, which might be soon (i hope). If the value drops, then it might be better then XBOX 360 in a cost/gaming ratio. I probably won't end up buying the PS3 though for financial reasons, because of the multi console releasing. Most games i actually want to have come out for XBOX 360, PS3 and sometimes even Wii.

Thats all for now...

Console fanboyism is idiocy. The best possible scenario for gamers is if all games are available on all systems, including PC. Choice is good.

That said, the x360 actually has several big-name JRPG exclusives, including Star Ocean 4, Infinite Undiscovery, and Tales of Vesperia. PS3 has ... what? Disgaea 3? Does that even count?

God of War 3 is still a boon to Sony, but anyone who thinks the loss of FFXIII exclusivity isn't a huge blow is an idiot. FFXIII moves systems (has been moving them, in fact - many are saying they bought or would have bought a PS3 just for FFXIII). Whether or not the experience will be superior on PS3 remains to be seen, but even if it is, will it be superior enough to get x360 owners to jump? I highly doubt it.

I'm no console fan, but Sony lost this round, plain and simple.

Edit: I just read that they plan on "optimizing compression" to fit everything on the x360 discs - I hope they don't do that for the PS3. Whenever I see "optimized compression" it means they just compressed the hell out of it and trashed the quality. Another space advantage for PS3 would be multiple language audio tracks (so you can play it original, dubbed, or subbed, according to your preference and language proficiency); that would be a good use of BD's extra space.

They won't. They are porting it to the 360. It will lose huge amounts of quality because of this reason.

FFXIII Versus is still PS3 exclusive.

And Dante... the PS3 is the BEST Blu Ray player on the market because of the PSN and Cell Processor/RSX combo, and its lovely 399 price tag.

I agree etta, owning all 3 is nice. But, my point still stands that if you have a cutting edge PC, then why get a 360? I would rather just upgrade the PC more or perhaps get better peripherals for it.

You go tell the professional gamers that. I am sure they will agree.

I agree.

But only if I get plastic grenades that I get to throw at the live person too and it will hit them in-game if they get hit irl.

that would own.

Man that would rock! I would love having a halo gun and grenade... (even if you are being sarcastic). It would be so much fun to shoot up the XBOX live with gun instead of a controller on the XBOX 360.

As to what Rahja had to say, i guess its up to personal preference again.. I know tons of people who enjoy shooter games while actually using a "RL gun" but i wasn't refering to professional gamers, rather to casual/maybe a little on the hardcore side gamers who really enjoy shooter games, though the availability of using such accesories is very minimal...

Also based on the E3 reviews of the consoles, it seems that the XBOX 360 is the most anticipated of all three of the consoles to do well, with the best games coming out. PS3 was closely following. On that topic, seems Wii creators either didn't leak out the info on new projects or they are running out of ideas, the balance board isn't really worth it IMHO, since you have to pay $70 currently o get it with Wii Fit, which is really a lame game...

Personally i really want the PS3 for one reason and thats to play Ratchet and Clank Future, i know call me a little kid for liking it, i just really enjoy blowing stuff up violently for no apparent reason...

Go play paintball if you wanna feel the pain. It hurts like motherlover when you get hit. As for those shooting games with guns at the arcade, the all on rail game anyway so meh. Half-life 2 arcade is different though, but it's Japan only so meh again.

Oh yeah is there a VGA cable for the PS3? I got one for the 360 and it's pretty good.

Price is going down by 50€ soon due to the new version, from what I read in a newspaper. I'd wait a bit a see how it goes.

Why would they make an official announcement at the 2nd biggest electronics expo in the world (biggest in America), E3, that it WILL be on 360 if it was just "some stupid ass rumor".

Playstation 3 units sold = 12.81 million worldwide, definitely respsectable
XBox 360 units sold = 19 million worldwide

6.2 million is not something easy to ignore.

(According to their respective wikipedia pages.)

Just for fun here

Nintendo Wii = 24.45 million worldwide

It may be inferior graphically, but I don't think the load times will be "hideous" compared to the PS3. Do you have any idea of the compression rate of Blu-Ray? That, my friend, is hideous.

Again, the compression rate of Blu-Ray is terrible. What is 5 GB on Blu-Ray would probably be around 2.5GB on DVD.

Also, these alleged "big file sizes that only fit on Blu-Ray, so their crap on DVD" are complete RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO-and-bull more often than not. You know what they do for Blu-Ray games that they don't do for DVDs? They put the same information on the disc twice, three or four times just so the laser doesn't have to travel so much around the disc to find the information, thus bring load times down into the "acceptable" range, and falsely bloating Blu-Ray file sizes.

For PS3 or XBOX 360, i did hear something about an upgraded PS3 coming out, but im not sure... They are probably going to up the amount of storage in the PS3 anyways and up the price (plus add a bunch of bells and whistles to make the PS3 look cooler). I for one hate that they took the 20 gb PS3 off the market... It was probably also a bad marketing decision since many casual gamers, the majority of gamers probably only want to play a couple of games and don't need all that storage.

EDIT: Yea its a new model, the 80 GB model, and they are taking the 40 GB off the market...srsly ridiculous as seeing the PS3 is now way over priced now seeing as 60 GB is the new low model...
